My name is Holly Jo (a.k.a “Hojo”) and I’m a 28-year-old nurse (and future P.A.) from Rancho Cucamonga, California.
My blog is about my life and trying to stay healthy and happy through the ups and downs of life. I enjoy running, walking my dog, hiking, swimming, kickboxing and yoga. I love cooking and decorating. I also do a lot of crafts, such as scrapbooking, crocheting, pottery, drawing, you name it. I’m extremely outgoing and I’m always willing to try something new. I guess you could say I’m the definition of an extrovert. I have a lot of energy and I like to use it towards positive activities.
About five years ago, due to some unexpected life events, I began to struggle with severe depression. I had hit rock bottom, spiritually, financially and emotionally. I was lost and I had lost everything. It was a struggle to get out of bed every morning and face the day. In these struggles, I began wandering around my parent’s neighborhood. They lived in the beautiful foothills of the San Bernardino mountains, which sparked my love for hiking and walking. The walking eventually turned into a routine, which eventually became running. I used the running as a way to outlet the pain, to become the good kind of pain, instead of hurting myself. Running saved my life.
Now that my life has smoothed out a bit, it’s become a great joy.
After some time off after nursing school, I decided to get back into shape. I found a local gym and began taking some fitness classes to regain my love for feeling healthy. I then used that as a springboard to become more active in my life.
I chose to use this blog to track my progress and see how far I’ve come, as well as share my stories along the way.
I hope I can become an inspiration to anyone dealing with depression and be able to help others out of their struggles.
My goals in life are to have a balanced lifestyle, experiencing life and living it to the fullest. Given the opportunity to travel or try something new, I take it!
I’m thankful to anyone who reads through, and I love responding to comments!
Thanks for visiting my page! Enjoy!
P.s.: I’m not sure if you noticed, but I LOVE coffee!
